It can sometimes seem as if the whole world is in turmoil and there is no hope for dialogue and resolution.
Our world is going through a phase of acute polarization and the Corona crisis has only served to intensify the divisions between countries, communities and individuals.
This is profoundly worrying and stressful. We can be left feeling powerless and bereft of solutions. This online course offers a way through.
I found out about this upcoming online course through Charter for Compassion. This organization has a special place in my heart, because its founder Karen Armstrong was one of my first "mentors". I had stumbled across her 2008 TED Prize wish talk at just the moment I needed to hear her message. I recorded one of my epiphanies from watching her powerful talk: "It was only in that moment, that I came to realize how angry I had been. It was only in the moment of finding a possibility for #forgiveness in feeling compassion for those who had wronged me that I could acknowledge my own buried anger. Because to admit anger, would have meant admitting that I had been hurt in the first place and am vulnerable." Before that, the word #compassion, let alone #selfcompassion wasn't really in my working vocabulary.
If you have time, have a watch and drop a comment if you connected with her message:
